Ospreys centre Ashley Beck will miss the start of Wales' Six Nations campaign with an ankle injury.
The 22-year-old picked up the injury during the Ospreys' PRO12 victory over the Dragons on New Year’s Eve but the region has only now confirmed that the ligament damage will keep him out of action for 6-8 weeks. As a result, Beck, who scored on his last international appearance against Samoa in November, has been ruled out of contention for the Six Nations opener against Ireland in Cardiff on February 2 and probably the subsequent clashes with France and Italy.
There has been better news for Wales and the Ospreys with the return to fitness of Justin Tipuric. The flanker has overcome a shoulder problem and will start the crunch Heineken Cup clash with Leicester on Saturday.
