All Blacks set the online standard too

The best side in the world can also boast the best website ©allblacks.com

The All Blacks' demolition of France in Marseille at the back end of last year underlined their status as the world's best team and their all-round excellence extends beyond the playing field with the New Zealand Rugby Union website claiming the honours in the first edition of our Top 10s feature.

Here we run down the Top 10 Union websites:

1. New Zealand - allblacks.com
Comprehensive coverage of not only the world's most famous team but also the Super 14, Air New Zealand Cup and the IRB Sevens. Unrivalled player archive is also a huge plus. Audio and video is included and the social media is embraced in a big way - and they acknowledge rugby outside their own domain with coverage of major northern hemisphere news.

2. Ireland - irishrugby.ie
Clean and clear site that covers Irish rugby from grassroots to international stage. A site worthy of the current Six Nations Grand Slam champions.

3. Australia - rugby.com.au
Compact and good-looking site containing multi-media offerings. Includes link to the Wallabies' own channel on YouTube that provides some unintentional humour.

4. Wales - wru.co.uk
Presentation needs a bit of an overhaul but there is plenty of fresh content to satisfy even the most ardent fan and the union are using it pro-actively.

5. South Africa - sarugby.net
A World Cup-winning side but not an all-conquering website - playing catch-up in the southern hemisphere.

6. France - ffr.fr
Perhaps surprisingly the French site lacks some style and it is not that clear what they are trying to achieve - insert your own Les Bleus gag here.

7. England - rfu.com
The recent overhaul was long, long overdue and as a result the site looks so much better, but dig a little and you'll be disappointed. Let's hope it is a work in progress.

8. Scotland - scottishrugby.org
This site is not going to be winning any beauty contests but plenty of content - audio and video appear to be a bit of an after-thought.

9. Italy - federugby.it
Presentation could do with some work and a disappointing lack of not just audio and video but also photographic content.

10. Argentina - uar.com.ar
The Pumas may have cemented their status amongst the world's elite but the UAR's website appears reluctant to relinquish its amateur status.
